How is this different from the original Uwell Valyrian?
If you’ve been into sub-ohm vaping, you’re probably familiar with the Uwell Valyrian, which got tons of rave reviews. At first glance, the Uwell Valyrian 2 looks a lot like the Uwell Valyrian. Both have a flip cap on top, a similar airflow control ring, and a drip tip. Both of them are also large, although the Valyrian II is slightly wider at its base.
Aside from a few design tweaks, the major difference between the two would be the Uwell Valyrian 2’s upgraded mesh coil system, which takes flavour and performance to new heights. The Uwell Valyrian also avoids leaks with a self-cleaning mechanism that absorbs back extra e-liquid.
Design and Build
The Uwell Valyrian 2 has a beautiful, well-thought-out design. You can choose from six different colours: sapphire blue, black, stainless steel, iridescent, purple, and black & red. Likewise, its build is top-notch, with everything fitting together seamlessly. It can hold 6 mL of e-liquid, which is more than your average tank’s. Made of glass and stainless steel, it’s sturdy and comfortable to hold.
Its body consists of a mesh coil head surrounded by durable Pyrex glass. The package comes with two mesh coils (1 single and 1 dual), and as with similar sub-ohm tanks, the Uwell Valyrian 2 uses bubble glass.
Above this is a fill cap with a button on top. To flip the cap open, just press the button. The cap is in turn covered by a removable drip tip that’s proprietary. If you have other Uwell tanks, you can also try the drip tip on them. A drip tip cover is considerately included in the package.
Below the mesh coil head, you’ll find the base, which has a diameter of 29 mm, along with the airflow control ring. The bottom of the mesh coil attaches to the base, while its top connects to the chimney leading to the drip tip.
Coils
The Uwell Valyrian 2 automatically comes with two well-engineered mesh coils:
- 1 x 0.32-ohm single mesh coil (pre-installed)
- 1 x 0.14-ohm dual mesh coil
Aside from mesh coils producing more vivid flavour because of the increased surface area, the Uwell Valyrian 2’s performance is enhanced by its Pro-FCS Flavour Tasting Technology. This gives greater control over the heating, evaporating old e-liquid away from the coils so vapour is produced from new e-liquid and the flavour remains fresh. For this reason, flavour—along with strong vapour production—is the highlight of the Uwell Valyrian 2.
We love the flavour from both of the included mesh coils. The default 0.32-ohm single mesh coil is rated for 90 to 100 W, but it still tastes great if you bring the power down a little. Airflow with this coil is looser, and the flavour definitely exceeds expectations for a single mesh coil.
On the other hand, the 0.14-ohm dual mesh coil is rated for 80 to 90 W. Because its dual mesh, it yields stronger flavour than the other coil. Although it does consume e-liquid faster, you’ll get one of the tastiest vapes you’ve probably ever experienced from a sub-ohm tank. Vapour production is also hefty, and when combined with a high-VG e-liquid, you’ll be blowing out satisfying clouds.
Whichever coil you choose, flavour is A+. Each coil lasts for a while too, at around two weeks or more. After your first few vapes, the flavour reaches its full expression, remaining consistent all throughout until it’s time to change the coil.
If you’d like to supercharge the flavour even more, you can pair the Uwell Valyrian 2 with a 0.16-ohm triple mesh coil or a 0.15-ohm quadruple mesh coil, which are offered separately. The triple mesh coil is rated for 90 to 100 W, while the quadruple mesh coil averages does best at 100 to 120 W, respectively.
Self-Cleaning System
This is one of the most unique features of the Uwell Valyrian 2, and it wasn’t present in the original Uwell Valyrian. One downside of mesh coil tanks is there’s a higher chance of leaking, but the Uwell Valyrian counteracts this by naturally sucking back in extra e-liquid at the bottom of the tank. Because of this, it avoids pesky leaks from the airflow control ring. The Uwell Crown 4 Tank has a similar self-cleaning mechanism.
Airflow
The airflow control ring is at the base of the tank. There are three airflow ports, and making adjustments is smooth and easy. In general, the airflow leans towards being open and airy, so if you’re used to a tight vape, you can close the airflow halfway through or more to bring out even more flavour. However, for the triple and quadruple mesh coils that aren’t included in the package, the airflow is more restricted.
How to Fill the Uwell Valyrian 2
Filling the Uwell Valyrian 2 will just take you a few seconds. Make sure airflow is closed completely, then press the button at the top of the tank. This causes the top cap to flip open. Fill the tank through any of the two mid-sized holes inside. Finally, close the top cap. This is good to go, but you can break in a new coil by letting the e-liquid soak for five to ten minutes.
Verdict
For sub-ohm tanks, you can hardly do better than the Uwell Valyrian 2. Even at first glance, its fit and build show clear quality. The #1 reason why this has climbed to the top of the sub-ohm market is the flavour, which puts you right into vaping heaven. It’s well-balanced too because you can get some nice clouds out of this, and there are different high-tech coils available for you to play around with. This is the type of tank that you’re bound to rave about after a few puffs—just ask your fellow vapers who’ve tried it already.
