E Cigarettes to be Prescribed by the NHS

In 2015 the BBC news reported that electronic cigarettes are 95% safer than tobacco cigarettes http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-33978603 The BBC also reported that GP’s were unable to prescribe them on the NHS at that time.

 

Since then in 2016, the UK medicines regulator, the MHRA, have issued a licence which enables electronic cigarettes to be prescribed by the NHS and marketed as a smoking cessation product. This will enable doctors to prescribe a brand of e cigarettes to smokers through the NHS, as reported in the Sunday Times http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/health/news/article4531500.ece

The NHS Choices previously announced that it will regulate and license e-cigarettes from 2016. All of Vapour Days products, including e-liquids, already meet EC regulations.
